EL CAJON LIBRARY HOSTS MULTICULTURAL FAMILY FIESTA

5th Annual Free Event Features Entertainment, Information and Refreshments

March 10, 2014

The El Cajon Library, 201 E. Lexington Avenue, will celebrate the vibrant cultural diversity of its community with the fifth annual Multicultural Family Fiesta, Saturday, March 29, from noon - 3 p.m. The event will feature a wide variety of entertainment, refreshments, crafts for kids, and an information fair with numerous community organizations. The Fiesta will also highlight the county-wide kick-off of the national El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros (Day of the Child/Day of Books), a celebration of children's reading, with a free book for teens and children. The Fiesta is free of charge and the public is invited. It's an occasion that both children and adults can enjoy.

The entertainment line-up includes La Fiesta del Pueblo Ballet Folklorico dancers from Cajon Valley Middle School, led by teacher Juan Lopez; dancers and singers from St. Madeleine Sophie's Center; the award-winning Arabina Middle Eastern dancers starring founder "Dilek"; and a demonstration by the El Cajon Police Department's K-9 police dog and officers. The El Cajon Fire Department will also be on hand to host tours of a fire engine. The Fiesta is sponsored by the San Diego County Library, with major donations from Trepco West, the Chaldean American Association, Toyota of El Cajon, the Point Loma Credit Union, and the Friends of the El Cajon Library.

"We are proud that the Fiesta continues to grow each year, and is becoming an eagerly-anticipated tradition," says Hildie Kraus, Branch Manager of the El Cajon Library. "We expect hundreds of people to attend, and it really brings the community together in our library, celebrating the rich cultures that make El Cajon such a fascinating place."

For more information on the Fiesta, call the library at (619) 588-3718.
