Featured Partner: San Diego Padres

The Padres present a donation check at the El Cajon Library.

The San Diego Padres partner with San Diego County Library to promote literacy, healthy lifestyles, and free family fun through the donation of money, baseball tickets, and raffle prizes during the library's annual Summer Reading Club. This summer, the Padres are donating $2,000 to the library's matching funds program where monetary donations are matched dollar for dollar to purchase new books, movies, and music. The first $1,000 check was presented to the library at a special story time held at the El Cajon Branch. Padres catcher Rob Johnson attended the event and read stories, answered questions, and signed autographs for 150 eager fans. The next donation story time event will be held at the San Marcos Branch on Tuesday, August 16 at 10:30 a.m. Stay tuned to find out which Padres player will be attending!

The Padres also donated a whopping 4,000 baseball tickets to the library! Valued at $68,000, these tickets were raffled off as incentives for customers who signed up for the library's Summer Reading Club. The Summer Reading Club encourages kids, teens, and adults to read over the summer while taking part in library programs and earning prizes. In addition to the monetary donation and tickets, the Padres also donated 120 wiffle ball-and-bat sets to help keep kids active and promote healthy lifestyles.
