Facilities where this Service is offered:
Volunteers at Edgemoor need to complete an application, go through background check and orientation. Volunteers help with the following activities:
- Assist residents with computers - such as training on how to use the computer or new software
- Assist with clerical functions in Therapeutic Recreation department
- File
- Organize books, tapes, videos
- Completing supply list
- Assist with transporting residents to activities within the facility
- Assist with activities - ceramics, crafts, games, sing along, movies, bingo
- Take residents out for a walk off the nursing unit, participate in and out of unit activities
- Assist with field trips - plan, recruit, accompany
- Decorate bulletin boards
- Resident services - read to, write letters for, spend time with residents
- Stock and maintain library, distribute reading material to residents
- Assist with chapel services
- Help sort donated clothing
- Develop fundraising activities, donors
- Assist with distribution of monthly calendars on units, in resident rooms
- Assist in planning, seeking and obtaining entertainment, decorate and participate in special events
- Assist in serving at special events
