We invite you to visit Edgemoor!
All visitors must sign in and out on the Visitors Log at the Edgemoor Reception Area (Command Center) and identify the resident they are here to see. Underage (minor) visitors must be accompanied by responsible adults while on the Edgemoor Grounds.
Your responsibilities as a visitor:
- Sign in at the command center, and also at the nursing neighborhood when visiting and check-in with the caregivers
- Edgemoor is a smoke-free facility and smoking is not permitted in the building or on our grounds.
- Keep all valuables secured and with you at all times, or better yet--leave them at home.
- Do not give any items to residents without discussing this with the nurse. In fact, consider to ask the staff BEFORE you buy or bring something. Many simple things like matches, or lighters, food items, alcohol-containing products, electronic items, air fresheners or glass items or holiday decorations are restricted. The nursing staff can help you to choose what to bring.
- Please don’t leave food unattended or in resident rooms. We can store items in the refrigerator (signed, dated, labeled) or cupboard.
- No weapons or illegal drugs are allowed.
- Outside medications are not allowed unless approved by the physician.
- Do not approach residents you do not know--smiling, waving and greeting is OK
- Keep children within arm's length at all times while in the facility.
- If you see an incident, try to avoid staring or passing by to protect the residents’ privacy and to assure you are out of danger.
- Report anything unusual you see to the nurse as soon as possible.
- Use visitor's bathrooms not resident bathrooms.
- Keep alert at all times.
- When items are brought for residents or taken from them, they need to be added or subtracted from the inventory by the nursing staff. The facility reserves the right to inspect bags or packages.
- Any valuables or cash/checks should be checked into the safe in the Cashier’s Office between the hours of 8:15AM-3:00PM, Monday thru Friday, excluding Holidays. The facility is not responsible for any items/property not listed on the personal property inventory record. It is preferable to have small amounts of cash on the unit, preferably less than $5.00.
- All electrical devices must be checked and approved by General Services.
- Visitors are asked to wash their hands when they enter the building, not to visit when sick and to cover their cough to prevent infections spreading to or from our residents.
- The facility will ask visitors to leave if they seem to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, are belligerent, verbally or physically threatening toward staff or residents. The resident must accept the visitation. The facility reserves the right to refuse or limit visitation if there are concerns about the safety of visitors, residents or staff.
- Please notify the nursing staff if the resident is leaving with you to complete the necessary paperwork and assure the highest level of safety.
