Restaurant sign "Food"Organic wastes are among the many common stormwater pollutants that can degrade water quality.  Stormwater runoff from eating and drinking establishments has been found to contain high concentrations of organics, food oil, and food grease wastes.  When these wastes wash into our waters they can kill aquatic organisms.  Organics such as food wastes and cooking oils can cause algae blooms and bacteria growth which degrades water quality.
