DPW's Transportation Division is on the road  to provide for the needs of San Diego County.

With crews in bright orange vests, shirts and hats, the Roads Section is the most visible part of DPW, responding to requests for services ranging from pothole repair to tree trimming.

Traffic Engineering provides traffic management and determines the need for stop signs and traffic lights.

Transportation Planning updates the County’s General Plan Circulation Element, and provides transportation planning support and coordination with regional agencies.

County Airports include eight unique facilities scattered throughout the area.  McClellan-Palomar Airport provides commercial service to Los Angeles and Phoenix; Ramona Airport is home to the busiest aerial firefighting base in the USA; and, the County Sheriff's air force, ASTREA, is based at Gillespie Field.
