In an attempt to minimize disruption to the community of Alpine, the County recently tried to advance the second phase of streetscape improvements including missing curb, gutter, sidewalk and associated drainage prior to the paving of the downtown Alpine area. Subsequent discovery of steep increases in estimated costs, duration and significant impacts to the community make it extremely difficult and imprudent for this project to go forward as planned at this time. Instead, Alpine Boulevard has been paved from Tavern Road to South Grade. This will allow staff to evaluate alternative designs in an attempt to reduce the construction cost and schedule of the Phase 2 improvements and its associated drainage, and to minimize traffic impacts and inconvenience to the Alpine community for these future improvements. The County is still firmly committed to completing the Phase 2 streetscape improvements and anticipates construction in approximately 30 to 36 months.
Paving and Striping are Complete!

Thank you to the residents and businesses of Alpine for your patience and understanding.
