The County's General Management System is based on three strategic initiatives:

Improve Opportunities for Children

  • Promote Natural Resource Management Strategies that Ensure Environmental Preservation,
  • Quality of Life, and Economic Development

Promote Safe and Livable Communities

In order to support and help achieve the County's Strategic Initiatives the Department of Planning and Land Use is focusing on the following goals in Fiscal Year 2007-2008:

  • Reduce processing times for childcare facilities from 78 days to 50 days for 50% of the cases submitted;
  • Reduce processing times for private schools and private recreation projects by at least 14 days;
  • Complete Draft Plan for the North County Subarea of the Multiple Species Conservation Program;
  • Review the circulation network; the community planning groups circulation request; the road standards update analysis, and SANDAG's population/traffic modeling forecast update
